Harnett County Solid Waste Fee Schedule

Effective July 1, 2025

Accepted payment methods: Cash, check, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover).


Landfill Tipping Fees

(Prices listed per ton)

  • LCID (Land Clearing Debris) and Yard Waste: $37 per ton

  • Construction and Demolition (C&D): $54 per ton

  • Commercial Waste: $54 per ton

  • Mixed Loads: $54 per ton

  • Minimum Charge: $5 per load

No charge for furniture, including mattresses and box springs.


Fines and Penalties

  • Trash or debris in LCID loads: $100 per ton

  • Surcharge for digging out loads: $100 per ton

  • Solid Waste citation: $100

  • Illegal waste disposal: $106 per ton


Availability Fees

(Collected annually on the property tax bill)

  • Household Solid Waste Fee: $80

  • Recycling Fee: $5

These fees help cover the cost of maintaining the facilities, equipment, and infrastructure needed to provide solid waste and recycling services to Harnett County residents.


Waste Hauler Permit

  • $135 per vehicle per year


Free Disposal for Harnett County Residents

The following items may be disposed of at no charge:

  • Bagged household kitchen trash

  • Newspapers, broken down cardboard, paper

  • Plastic bottles and containers

  • Aluminum and steel cans

  • Computers, televisions, microwaves, and small appliances

  • Scrap metal

  • Vehicle tires (must be removed from the rim)

  • Furniture, including mattresses and box springs


Household Hazardous Waste

Hazardous materials such as cleaning products, gasoline, grease, wet paint, and pesticides are not accepted at the landfills or convenience centers. These materials are only accepted during the County’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event.
