About Us

The Harnett County Tax Department consists of three divisions. The overall Department is reflective of the North Carolina General Statutes that govern property taxation in North Carolina.

Real Property Division: 

The responsibility of the Real Property Division is to value all real property in the county at a fair market value based on the latest Schedule of Values. Real property includes the land and improvements such as homes, carports, garages, additions, storage buildings, sheds, poultry and swine houses, swimming pools, etc. For more information visit our Real Property Division webpage (click here).

Personal Property Division: 

The responsibility of the Personal Property Division is to list and value all personal property located within Harnett County and process exemption/exclusion applications in a fair and equitable manner.  Personal property includes aircraft, watercraft, unlicensed motor vehicles, multi-year tag trailers, mobile homes, business assets, etc. For more information visit our Personal Property Division webpage (click here).

Collection Division: 

The responsibility of the Collection Division is to collect all current and delinquent taxes as well as solid waste fees and all fees associated with forced collections.
