The Harnett County Tax Department consists of three divisions. The overall Department is reflective of the North Carolina General Statutes that govern property taxation in North Carolina.

Listing:  The responsibility of the Listing Division is to list all personal property located within Harnett County and process exemption/exclusion applications in a fair and equitable manner.

Collections:  The responsibility of the Collection Division is to collect all current and delinquent taxes as well as solid waste fees and all fees associated with forced collections. Our staff does this with the goal that each taxpayer is treated in a fair and equitable manner.

Appraisal:  The responsibility of the Appraisal Division is to value all real property in the county at a fair market value based on the latest Schedule of Values. Real property includes the land and improvements such as homes, carports, garages, additions, storage buildings, sheds, poultry and swine houses, swimming pools, etc.
