Harnett County Register of Deeds Office Now Offering a New Service
Monday, May 11, 2026
Thanks to a new partnership with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, the Harnett County Register of Deeds Office is now offering hunting and fishing licenses for the community.
This new service makes it convenient for residents and outdoor enthusiasts to obtain a license quickly and easily.
“We are excited to offer this new service,” said Register of Deeds Matthew S. Willis. “We’re always looking for ways to better serve our community and make things a little easier for folks.”
The license costs vary depending on the type of license individuals are purchasing. Individuals will need to bring identification with them.
Those individuals applying for a lifetime license will also need to provide a certified birth certificate. For individuals born in Harnett County, a birth certificate is already on file and does not need to be provided. Residents born in another North Carolina county in or after 1971 may obtain a certified copy of their birth certificate through the Deeds office for an additional $24 fee. Individuals born outside of Harnett County prior to 1971 must bring a certified copy of their birth certificate with them when applying for a lifetime license.
Please note that a $5 administrative fee will be added to each license issued. The office accepts both cash and card payments.
Residents can obtain a license in person Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. For questions, individuals can contact Register of Deeds at (910) 893-7540.
