Picture off a room with a computer and equipment. Sign on the wall says Memory LabThe Harnett County Public Library is excited to announce the opening of the Memory Lab at the Main Library in Lillington.

The Memory Lab is a new do-it-yourself (DIY) space that allows community members to preserve personal memories by converting physical media into digital formats.

The Memory Lab provides equipment for digitizing a variety of materials, including personal documents, home movies, and photographs. Using a DIY model, patrons receive step-by-step instructions during an orientation session and then apply what they learn to use the equipment independently.

Materials that can be digitized in the Memory Lab include VHS and VHS-C tapes, developed photographs, and flat paper documents.

This service is free for patrons.
