Harnett Area Rural Transit System Seeks Public Input on Transportation Needs

Monday, September 29, 2025

Harnett Area Rural Transit System (HARTS) is seeking community feedback through a public survey to better understand residents’ transportation needs across the County. The survey will remain open until Friday, October 24, 2025.

HARTS is exploring new transportation options to better serve residents traveling to school, work, interviews, appointments, or other destinations. One solution under consideration is micro-transit rides.

Micro-transit is a flexible, on-demand service that functions like rideshare. With micro-transit, riders can book and pay for trips online through a smartphone or computer. A driver then provides curb-to-curb service, picking up riders at their chosen destination and dropping them off at their scheduled destination.

This service would allow residents to have more spontaneous trips.

HARTS encourages all residents to take a few minutes to complete the short survey and share their input. Feedback from the community is essential in shaping the future of transportation services in Harnett County.
