Harnett County Issues Burn Ban, effective March 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

Friday, March 21, 2025

Harnett County, NC- Due to recent dry conditions, increased winds, and heightened wildfire the Harnett County Fire Marshal has issued a county-wide burn ban effective 5:00 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025, until further notice. This ban aligns with the North Carolina Forest Service’s state-wide burn ban.

The ban prohibits all open burning within Harnett County. This measure has been implemented in accordance with Section 307 of the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code.

Residents of Harnett County are strongly urged to take all necessary precautions to minimize fire risks during this period. This restriction extends outward 100 feet from all residential structures. However, this ban does not prohibit the use of outdoor grills, provided proper precautions are taken to prevent fire from escaping those appliances.

The ban will remain in effect until atmospheric conditions improve and the fire hazard subsides. Updates will be provided as necessary.

For more information or questions about the burn ban, please contact the Harnett County Fire Marshal’s office at (910) 893-0743.
