Harnett County Announces Application Process for Low Income Energy Assistance Program
Monday, November 18, 2024
Applications accepted through March 31, 2025
The Harnett County Department of Social Services would like to announce the application process for this year’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP).
Starting December 1, 2024, applications will be accepted for the priority group, and all other households may apply beginning January 1, 2025, through March 31, 2025, or until the LIEAP funds are exhausted. The priority group are individuals ages 60 and above, and disabled persons receiving services from the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS). Please note the agency will be closed on January 1, 2025, for the New Year holiday.
Eligible households will not receive the LIEAP check, as the payments will be made directly to the heating provider such as electric, gas, or fuel oil company.
Some households who received LIEAP assistance last year may not need to reapply and are eligible to receive an automatic payment. If you are part of this group, you will receive an approval notice in November.
You can apply for LIEAP in the following ways:
- Apply in person – Harnett County Department of Social Services, 311 W. Cornelius Harnett Blvd.
