We are having the event as part of the BOE’s outreach program to educate Harnett County voters (and future voters) of North Carolina voter laws and election process so they can become informed and active citizens in a healthy democracy.
The event will be a drop-in event so people may come and go as they please. We will not have any candidates present since we are trying to remain as nonpartisan as possible, however the County Republican and Democratic parties will each have a table that folks can visit after the event.
We will have 5 stations set up:
- Voter Registration
- Voter ID Info
- Absentee/Provisional Ballot Info
- Election Worker Roles
- Election Security
Attendees can visit each manned station where they can learn more about each subject by finding the answers to trivia questions. Attendees can get the answers from printed material, from us, or visiting the NC Board of Election website through tablets. After visitors complete the trivia challenge, they can enter it in a drawing for a “patriotic” gift basket.
We will also have a voting booth and machine set up so visitors can participate in a fun mock “election”.
All ages are encouraged to attend.
