Harnett County Department of Social Services and its partnering organizations will observe Child Support Awareness Month during August. Child Support Awareness month recognizes child support professionals and parents who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children emotionally and financially.
Established in 1995, Child Support Awareness Month is nationally recognized each year during the month of August to focus on the importance of providing financial support for children.
Harnett County Department of Social Services and many local agencies work together daily to ensure all children in the community receive the financial and parental support they deserve.
“Children do not ask to be born and it is our goal to ensure that both parents are, at least, financially responsible for the support of their children,” stated Harnett County Child Support Enforcement Program Manager Angela Warren. “Our County offers resources for people in need. We truly want to help because we believe that children benefit when both parents are able to work together for the good of their children.”
The Department of Social Services will host the Helping Hands of Harnett Community Day to bring awareness of the support and community resources available to families. The community day will be a free, family friendly event, where citizens can learn about County services, support for families, and other county resources in a fun and educational environment.
Warren continued, “We are all facing difficult times. Harnett County Department of Social Services would like to make sure that the citizens of Harnett County are aware of the resources that are available to assist them.”
Helping Hands of Harnett Community Day will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 at the Harnett County Government Complex Commons Area, located at 311 W. Cornelius Harnett Blvd. in Lillington. Several County departments and partnering agencies will be at the event to provide information on their services. Click here to download event flyer.
