The objective of the Harnett County Parks and Recreation Department is to provide with the assistance of volunteer community organizations, and other local, state, and federal agencies, a broad and comprehensive program of leisure recreational opportunities and facilities for all citizens regardless of age or disability within budgetary limitations.

Public Hearing for Phase 1 of the Government Complex Park

A public hearing will be held on January 28, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Training Room within the Harnett County Public Library at 601 S. Main St. in Lillington. Any person wishing to comment will be allowed to speak at this time.

Harnett County Parks and Recreation is planning a county park adjacent to the Government Complex in Lillington. Phase One of the project includes walking trails, a dog park, and a nature observation area overlooking the Cape Fear River. Future site amenities include multi-use fields, amphitheater, picnic shelters, playground, more walking trails, water access for canoe/kayak launch, fishing pier, farmers market, and multi-use/expo building.
