Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Closed on County Holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), and Christmas (3 days).

Crisis Intervention Program
Harnett County Department of Social Services 2013-2014 Crisis Intervention Program is being administered by Johnston, Lee and Harnett Community Action. Applications for the program can be made at 745 Shawtown Road, Lillington, North Carolina 27546 (old Shawtown School location). For any inquiries about the program and hours of operation, please call (910) 814-8360.

AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

Affordable Care Act will open for enrollment October 1, 2013. Coverage effective dates will start on January 1, 2014. Open enrollment will continue thru March 31, 2014.

If you wish to have coverage effective January 1, 2014, you will need to enroll by December 15, 2013.

You may enroll by going online to https://www.healthcare.gov/ or by calling 1-800-318-2596.

The links above will assist you in completing an assessment of your insurance needs and help you to select the appropriate affordable coverage for you and/or your family. The online site is very user-friendly and contains numerous videos that will aid in understanding the process.


What is ePASS?

This is a secure, web-based, self-service tool to help citizens screen for potential eligibility for the following programs:

  • Food and Nutrition Services (FNS--Food Stamps)
  • Simplified Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Work First Cash Assistance
  • Crisis Intervention Program (CIP)

Foster Parents Needed

Harnett County Department of Social Services is always in need of Foster homes to meet the placement needs of the children in our county. For more information about becoming a Foster Parent contact Kerry Willis at 910-814-6803 or Georgianna Lander 910-814-6673. (Must be a Harnett County resident).

The next Informational session for those interested in foster parenting is Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 6:00 8:00 pm at the Department of Social Services building in the Harnett County Governmental Complex in Lillington.
