Harnett County Emergency Services Prepped for Hurricane Dorian

Lillington, NC- Harnett County remains in a state of readiness amidst the looming hurricane, Dorian.  Preparations within Harnett County Emergency Services have been made, and county Emergency Managers are closely monitoring the event.

The Emergency Operations Center will open Thursday morning at 8am, and will be staffed with emergency personnel throughout the event.  Preparations for emergency shelters have been completed in Harnett County, but current weather conditions and forecasting have influenced Harnett County leadership to keep shelters closed until the need arises.  If the decision is made to open shelters, information will be pushed out via County social media sites, ReadyNC.org, and our Rave emergency notification system.  To sign up for emergency text message alerts during this hurricane event, text HARNETTDORIAN to 67283.

The time to make final preparations is upon us.  Please make sure you and your family have made emergency preparation plans and you have all your personal effects in order by this Wednesday afternoon, as the forecast calls for conditions to deteriorate tomorrow.  Stay tuned to local news outlets, the Harnett County Emergency Services Facebook page, the Harnett County Government Facebook page, www.harnett.org, and reputable weather sources for the most up to date information concerning weather and Harnett County.
