Summer Reading Program Blasts Off on June 15

The Harnett County Public Library is gearing up for a season full of fun with the kick off of the Summer Reading Program on June 15.

This year’s theme, “A Universe of Stories!” encourages children to keep the skills they have learned during the school year by having fun while reading throughout the summer! During the six week program, children, teens, and adults will have the opportunity to complete reading logs and turn them in for prizes.

The Summer Reading Program will blast off on Saturday, June 15 with an out of this world celebration from 9 am – 12:30 pm at the Harnett County Public Library, located at 601 S. Main Street in Lillington. This FREE event will feature face painting and inflatables from MelodyMaker Entertainment and Mimi the Clown, free pizza from Papa John’s of Lillington, and information booths with prizes provided by various Harnett County agencies. All individuals who register for the Summer Reading Program will receive a free snow cone from Kona Ice. The Boone Trail MOPS group will also host a cool down station inside the library to help attendees beat the heat.

Library branches across Harnett County will also hold weekly events to celebrate all of our star readers. These events will include craft programs, movie days, and programs for the family with entertainers. All library programs are free and open to the public.
