Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action will begin accepting applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) on behalf of the Harnett County Department of Social Services, Thursday, December 1, 2016. The LIEAP helps eligible households pay their heating bills by providing a credit to a household’s main heating source vendor.
Only target applicants will be considered for eligibility from December 1 through December 31. Target households must contain either a person age 60 and older, or a disabled person who receives services from the Division on Aging or Adult Services. All other households may apply between January 3 and March 31, 2017, and will be considered if funds are still available.
Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community action is also currently implementing its Crisis Intervention Program, which provides assistance to households that are in danger of having their main heating or cooling source disconnected, depending on the season. Households are not automatically eligible for this program and must be determined eligible.
For more information on eligibility for either of these programs, or inquiries, call (910) 814-8360. Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action is located at 745 Shawtown Road, Lillington (at the old Shawtown School).
